At the height of summer it can become baking hot in our courtyard, which forms a natural suntrap, but if that's not your scene we have plenty of shaded areas to relax in and enjoy your holiday in France.

Cognac
The port of Cognac is due West of l'Age Baston, about 50 minutes drive. As a break from your painting holiday in France, why not take an afternoon out and visit this historic town? You can visit one of the Cognac distilleries (and sample the produce), just ask John or Alex for a recommendation - it's often better to visit one of the lesser-known Cognac houses, you'll get more personal service.
Shopping - Retail Therapy
la Rochefoucauld is in walking distance from l'Age Baston and has shops for all the basics, as well as some quite touristy boutiques.
For pure retail therapy, most people like to visit a French hypermarket while on their holiday in France, and the nearest is Geant at Champniers just outside Angouleme, about 15 minutes drive away. As its name implies, Geant is huge. Just the other side of Angouleme is Auchan which often has some excellent wine offers.
