A French Country Cooking holiday is for those of you who enjoy good food and cooking.  You will cover all stages of the process, from the raw materials to tempting presentations. You will be able to choose one dish that you would like to cook. Over the years students have chosen to make macaroons, croissants, stuffed cabbage, cassoulet, bouillabaisse, moules marinière, Tarte Tatin, Far, Paris-Brest and more!

Kitchen sessions are focused on acquiring techniques, learning about different ingredients and practising recipes. Students will discuss menu-planning and safe ways of working in the kitchen. You will probably also be laughing a lot. We will  prepare and cook some of the dishes for your fellow guests. What you make does get eaten and, because you are being taught by Alexandra, whatever is put on the table will be excellent. After all that’s why we cook – to eat and enjoy food together and we always aim to enjoy meals and mealtimes at L’Age Baston.

Guests cooking French food – Bon Appétit

You will not be spending the whole time chained to the kitchen. French Country Cooking Students will visit some local sources of the ingredients you will be using. We may visit a local cheese maker or one of the local Chocolatiers. A trip to a Cognac and Pineau producer, the local Cave at St Sornin where your lunchtime rosé comes from, and of course, the market at Piegut Pluviers on Wednesday Morning. All are possibilities.

We want for you to have enjoyed making dishes in a particular style and to feel more confident about your own approach to creating good French food. You will have a collection of all the delicious recipes that you have cooked during your stay for you to prepare at home and enjoy all over again.
